CONGRESS RESOLUTION
Arising from a well-attended emergency Congress meeting that was held on the 22nd of February 2022, ASUU – ESUT unanimously resolved to *join the ongoing national strike action from 8:00hrs of 1st March 2022.*
To this effect, there shall be *no lectures and no exams or any form of academic activity throughout the strike*.
Other Federal and State Universities have already joined the strike and as a premier state university in Nigeria, ESUT can not afford to sabotage the national struggle.
To ensure full compliance, a strike monitoring committee comprising of committed comrades from all the faculties in the university has been constituted. Please note that this is not business as usual as defaulters will be severely dealt with no matter how highly placed they are.
The Congress also noted all the ills and maltreatment meted on the union and her members by the current University management for approximately 2 years now including withholding of deducted union dues and levies for close to 2 years; witch-hunting of outspoken members including withholding of their salaries and removal from positions of service, absence of statutory yearly appraisal and promotion in the university and non-payment of salaries since December 2021. The Congress frowned at these acts of wickedness and are, more than ever before, determined to ensure the success of this strike action.
All members are to comply fully with the Congress resolution as this strike action is primarily anchored on the upward review of our salaries. Our salary was last reviewed in 2009 (13 years ago).
United we stand!
Signed
Dr. Nduagubam OC
Ag Secretary, ASUU- ESUT
