UECOWAS: PIVOTAL FAILURES IN THE 21ST CENTURY

It is unimaginable and flagrantly disappointing that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has chosen to honour President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria for uncontrollably instilling hardship in Nigeria, a sharp contrast to the stipulated reasons of ECOWAS that Muhammadu Buhari is a GREAT ICON OF DEMOCRACY both in Nigeria and other African countries. And for this, ECOWAS will honour him very soon.

We are not surprised at ECOWAS, as it has remained a moribund, docile and weak organization, deeply incapable of achieving little or nothing.

It is imperative that ECOWAS should note that Muhammadu Buhari is a tyrant, dictator, autocrat, oppressor, depressor and silent eliminator.

ECOWAS should know that honouring him in this way propagates the continual instigation and killing of Christians in Southern Kaduna, the commissioning of Boko Haram, armed bandits, heavily armed Fulani herdsmen, the thwarting of Nigeria’s electoral processes, carrying out classified unprecedented rigging of 2015, 2019 and 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria, inundating Nigerians with heavy indebtedness through external and internal loans to the tune of about fifty trillion naira (₦50 trillion).

What about the poor infrastructural base of the country? President Buhari cannot boast of any viable industry instituted in Nigeria in his administration. He has successfully destroyed education in Nigeria. The Nigerian judiciary, under Buhari, is more or less a dead venture, because Buhari does not believe in the rule of law which is the foundation of any democracy. So this begs the question, “ECOWAS, on what basis are you honouring this dictator?”

Nigerians, stand up and resist this deceptive award and honouring of Buhari by ECOWAS.

Indeed, Nigeria now needs the proverbial phrase, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “MAY GOD SAVE US”.
