Christianity is all about Christ, the mystery of his being, existentialism, his death, and resurrection. In these attributes, we are concerned with the resurrection of our Lord Jesus sequel to the great event to be held this Sunday.
Let’s take a little stroll back in time and history, what is Easter all about? why is it important to the Christians, and what are we supposed to do to participate in this great event.
What is Easter all about? Easter is also called the paschal or resurrection Sunday, it is the Christian festival and cultural holiday signifying the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the new testament of the bible as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his passion and crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary.30 AD.
Why is Easter important to Christians? It is essential because it represents the fulfillment of the prophecies of the old testament and the revelation of God’s salvific plan for all humankind. Easter also celebrates the defeat of death and the hope of Christians for eternal life.
What are we supposed to do to prepare for the great event? Before the Easter they are a series of feasts and services one ought to have partaken in, these include the Lenten season in which Christians are bound to suffer the flesh(through fasting, prayer, and abstinence) to glorify the spirit, the Holy Thursday in which we share in the pain of Christ before he entered into his passion, the good Friday which he suffered death by crucifixion, holy Saturday when he descended to hell to liberate the righteous that had died before him and waited in the hope of his resurrection, and finally Easter Sunday when he defeated death and resurrected with the saints.
I know you’re wowed by the rich cultures of this religion, but let’s get into the best ways to celebrate Easter.
1. TAKE A BREAK
Of course, yes, take a break from school, work, office, or your regular responsibilities at home set a prayer day aside to meet with the lord, and enjoy the life he has given you.
2. FEAST
Easter is a day to celebrate, unlike the good Friday where we ought to be sorrowful. Christ has liberated us from death and it calls for celebration. You can do this with family friend relations, cook a nice meal, pop champagne, and toast to everlasting life in Christ Jesus.
3. VISIT THE ORPHANAGES
As we celebrate and merry we ought to remember those less fortunate than we are and help out in ways we can since Christ is love himself, we should live out our Christian lives by showing love to one another.
4. SHARE AND LISTEN TO STORIES
During the Lenten season and holy week, did you see anything fascinating? did you experience different healing or feeling? did you feel bad or sad? Well if you did, step out and share with someone or friends. When we share our experiences of meetings with the lord. We stimulate each other’s fate, share our struggles, and build trust with those who can love and help us.
We also wish to use this medium to wish you a Happy Easter.
