A lady Sued For Inflicting Injury On A 12 year old Boy Using Razor Blade

Mrs. Opeyemi Omoyemi, was sued to court for allegedly brutalising a 12-year-old boy by lacerating his body with a razor blade on 7th February 2022.

The 36-year-old woman used sharp razor blade on her house help, by name Joel Sunday, because he stole pieces of meat from her pot.

Five charges were held against her due to her action and the court is taking the issue seriously.
The charges includes attempted murder, child abuse, violence against persons, prohibition among others, the accused was detained at a Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The woman who happen to be a widow , according to the prosecution counsel, Barr. Emmanuel Tanimowo, used a stick and razorblade to inject multiple injuries on the body of the boy on February 6, 2022, at her place of abode located at Idimango Adewale axis of Ondo road, Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

The prosecution counsel affirmed accurately on how the boy was rescued of his brutality: “Mrs Ayedun Alice was going to the church when she saw one Sunday Joel crying, with a pool of blood on his body and the woman was forced to branch to see what was happening and she saw the defendant beating up the boy at the back of the house. And found the boy receiving the greatest brutality ever.
She immediately rescued the boy from the woman. The defendant i.e the widow had asked the boy to wash the blood off his body after she used razor blade to cut his body and made open injury.

“To save the boy from the woman, Ayedun lied her that she is a nurse and that she is taking the boy to the hospital for treatment. But immediately rushed the boy to Fanibi Police station to report the issue which brought about the arrest of the defendant.

“At the police station, she confessed and agreed to the crime and that she observed that the boy had packed all the meats in her pot of soup. She said immediately the boy saw him he tried to escape but caught him. She later took her to her parlour where she used the razor blade to cut the various part of his body.

On the process of her interrogation, the boy was rushed to the police clinic and currently undergoing treatment but still in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the lady pleaded guilty to the three of the charges but not guilty to the count three charges leveled against her.

Worthy to mention, The Attorney for International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Catherine Ogunjebi, told the court to retain the respondent that is the woman in a correctional facility.

The Defence Counsel, Gbenga Allen, however, pleaded for mercy as the defendant was a first-time offender and should be given another chance not to be punished.

The Magistrate in charge of the case, Mrs. O.A Edwin adjourned the sentencing and trial till February 14, 2022.
